Questions to ask when looking for a commercial heating specialist

The heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in your commercial building provide constant stability. If just one of them fails, staff comfort drops and productivity will suffer. In some cases, you may even be forced to evacuate the building. When it comes to your commercial HVAC system installation and repairs, it’s worth doing your due diligence when selecting a commercial heating specialist. Whether you’ve never employed a professional to carry out this type of work before or you do it regularly, make sure you arm yourself with the following questions and hire the right company.

Are they accredited?

As with many professional services, you have to make sure they have the proper accreditation. If the service you’re requesting involves gas, ensure they have their Gas Safe registration.

Do they have insurance?

Make sure they’re happy to provide proof of insurance, usually in the form of a one-page certificate. It can be particularly problematic for your business if they don’t. Without liability and worker’s compensation coverage, you could be liable for any accidents in your commercial building.

Are they happy to give you references?

Contacting past customers gives you a much greater understanding of the contractor you plan to hire. Ask the commercial heating specialist for several customer references. Try at least two of these and check for timely and within-budget completion, and if they’ve needed any further repairs since.

Will they give you price estimates?

Don’t settle for a standalone price. Ask for a broken down and itemized estimate from your contractor before agreeing to any work. It should include materials, labour costs, potential tax rebates for energy-efficient options, and warranties.

Are they willing to make a written proposal?

After choosing your preferred commercial heating specialist, it’s very useful to have a written proposal that lays out the project schedule, job costs, and, if possible, warranty information. You should have a master copy of terms, conditions, and all the oral promises included. Armed with this information, you can provide a final commitment.Satisfied with all the answers to these questions, you can rest assured you’re dealing with an experienced professional who can deliver quality installation or repairs to your commercial HVAC system. If you want to make sure you get the most benefit from your HVAC system in the warmer months, get in touch with GOS Heating today on 01772 734 966.
