Reducing Emissions

AKW is actively working to decrease their environmental footprint by monitoring and reducing Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions:

• Scope 1: Partnering with logistics providers to cut vehicle emissions.
• Scope 2: Switching to renewable electricity, reducing gas emissions by 13.76%, and installing solar panels at their Middlewich office.
• Scope 3: Increasing the use of recyclable materials, saving 4.76 tonnes of single-use plastic in packaging.

Sustainable Transport

AKW collaborates with XPO Logistics to deliver products using electric vehicles. In Q1 2024, 17.9% of deliveries were electric, saving 389kg of CO2.

Water Conservation

AKW promotes water-saving practices and products:

• Introduced water-saving guides and free 5-minute shower timers.
• Developed eco-friendly products like water-efficient sanitaryware and SmartCare Electric Showers with optional eco-settings.
• Reduced reliance on traditional WCs by offering bidet solutions.

Plastic Waste Reduction

AKW has significantly reduced single-use plastics in their packaging:

• Shower trays are packaged in biodegradable cardboard.
• 98% of plastic packaging for shower screens and pumps replaced with recyclable brown paper.
• Saved 2,333.5kg of plastic by transitioning from bubble wrap to cardboard.

Renewable Energy

AKW powers its Droitwich Spa offices with 100% renewable electricity. Their Middlewich facility features solar panels, electric car charging points, and a "Very Good" BREEAM sustainability rating.
